The Best And Worst Technologies Of The Year So Far

Posted by David Watson . on June 21, 2013

There are some fantastic gadgets and technologies out this year, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 standing out amongst them. Unfortunately however, there have also been some truly dreadful technological innovations out this year, which simply haven’t quite made the cut. Here are the best and worst technologies of the year so far.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – The Best

It isn’t rocket science to work out why the Samsung Galaxy S4 is in our list of best technologies of 2013 so far. In fact, it isn’t rocket science to work out why it’s the first to be mentioned in this list.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the one tech introduction of this year with the most hype around its release, and its hype was entirely justified.

It is quite possibly the best phone ever, boasting extraordinary power, a fantastic camera and superbly bold full HD resolution screen.

The only way I can imagine the Samsung Galaxy S4 not being the phone of the year, is if iPhone really pull something out of the bag with the iPhone 6.

HP Envy x2 – the Worst

If you’re one of the few who are unfortunate enough to own an HP Envy x2, the strong chances are that you’re unhappy with your purchase.

So what exactly is wrong with the HP Envy x2?

In a nutshell, the laptop is unjustifiably expensive. Its very poor performance, low-resolution screen and minimal storage space (only 64GB) can only be deemed acceptable were its price significantly lower. However, at £800, it’s as if someone switched its price tag with a laptop that’s actually decent.

All this laptop has going for it is its design; the least important thing when it comes to laptops.

MK802 Bluetooth Android 4.1 Mini PC – The Best

Visopix’s MK802 Bluetooth Android 4.1 has the brilliant and extremely convenient capability of turning an ordinary TV into a Smart TV.

If you have a TV with a USB slot, you can connect this Mini PC into it and enjoy more than all of the features accessible via a Smart TV.

Play games, surf the internet, network through social media and enjoy instant on demand programming through channels such as 4oD, ITV Player and the like, all on your TV with a MK802 Mini PC dongle.

Another thing that makes this gadget one of the best technological introductions of the year is the fact that it costs a mere £60.

LG Optimus L3 II – The Worst

It’s perhaps an indication to how poor the LG Optimus L3 II is that despite being just £90, consumers are advised to not touch it with a bargepole. It’s low-resolution screen and ridiculously poor performance mean it isn’t even worth its cheap price.

LG Optimus L3 II

Smartphones are supposed to be gadgets that we actually enjoy using, to the extent that we’re always on our phones. The LG Optimus L3 however, is more or less the opposite; with such a poor screen and single-core processor that using it becomes more of a chore.

It does have decent battery life, but it’s such a frustrating phone you kind of wish it had no battery and was just off all the time.
