4 Signs That Indicate It’s Time to Rebuild Your Logo

Branding is very important in modern business. In the past, only large corporations focused on branding as much as they possibly could, but in this modern and saturated business market, branding has become important for all business organizations, no matter their size.

In order for a business organization to be heard in the sea of fierce competitions, it needs to be perceived as unique. Let’s face it; opening a completely unique business is almost impossible today. This is why branding is important, as it can make a business memorable even if there are other organizations offering similar products or services.

A big part of branding, among other things, is your company’s design and this starts with your company logo. This piece represents your company, and it needs to be able to tell your story in the most truthful way. That is the reason why most of the companies are outsourcing the graphic designing services.

However, simply having a logo is not enough. It must be good for it to have any effect. If not, you must redesign it; here are 4 signs that show that your logo might be ready for rebuilding.

1. You can’t remember how your logo looks like

Just think about your logo. Can you visualize how it looks? If you already have a logo and you can’t, this is a clear sign that you need a new one badly. How can you expect potential customers to remember your logo and form a positive image about your business through it if you, as the business owner, cannot remember how it looks? The answer is simple, you can’t.

If you can’t visualize it, others won’t be able to do it as well, and this clearly indicates that your logo is poorly designed and that nobody will see it as something important. A good logo can be put anywhere you want and, besides the fact that a lot of people will see it only a few times, they will remember it, and this here is your end goal.

2.  People mistake your business for something else

In case you come across customers and prospects every now and then who think that your business is something completely different than it actually is, you should try and find out how they came to that conclusion. If they tell you that your designs reminded them of a grocery store, but you in fact sell car parts, then there is something seriously wrong with the designs you have, including your logo.

A good logo design doesn’t imply exceptional technical execution only. Like I mentioned before, a logo design needs to tell a story and clearly tell people what it represents. It’s generally a good idea to show your logo to several people who don’t know what it represents and ask them to tell you what it reminds them of. If most of their conclusions are not even close to what they were supposed to be, then getting a new logo is a must.

3. Your logo is not complacent with the rest of your brand

If you are going through a rebranding process, during which you also changed all of your designs, it is essential that you make certain changes to your logo as well. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you will have to create a brand new logo for your company and usually, just modernizing and adapting your logo is enough.

Your logo is the most obvious representation of your business and companies put it everywhere. If it doesn’t “fit in” with the rest of your designs, not only will it look bad, but it will also harm your brand identity. All of your brand’s aspects need to be complacent and work as one in order to be effective. For example, if you changed your whole website, including your advertising, videos, tag-lines, images, then you have to update your logo as well so that it isn’t the odd one out.

4. It’s unclear

If people are having a hard time figuring out what your logo is all about and they see it as something abstract without even connecting it to your brand, then you are in a pickle. In the past, marketers used to create complex logos, but nowadays, simplicity is essential and everyone started doing it. Trends in logo design change as people change, meaning that there are no design solutions which will always be good.

Not only is simplicity important for delivering a straightforward message to potential customers, but today, business organizations also do a lot of advertising online. This means that they have to transfer their material through various mediums, and if you have a complex design that cannot be manipulated with ease, you will have a hard time showcasing your logo.

Create a solid logo with no shadows or effects, use no more than three colors and try to make it as simple as possible. This may sound easy, but creating something simple that says a lot is not an easy job.

Logos are very important, no matter how small or insignificant they might seem to you. Make sure that you always keep yours in mind when creating material and promoting your business. A good logo can go a long way and create new business opportunities. Talk to a specialist each 5 years to see if anything needs changing.
