Website Design is Critical to Stepping up E-Recruiting

As human resource management (HR) comes under the influence of technology, many organizations are adopting e-recruiting tools quickly, but a Forrester report has found that outdated technology is still to blame for 90% of HR workers burning up four hours a week on admin and management tasks.

75% of organizations need to update HR tech

Despite this—and the shift in many industries to remote working and recruiting—Forrester has also found that another 90% of organizations are not maximizing the investment in new HR technology. 75% of organizations polled by Forrester admitted that they need to update their HR tech very soon.

While the plethora of HR tech vendors and the variety of solutions on the market may be intimidating, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recommends implementing third-party HR technology tools such as those offered by Minthr.com rather than trying to develop the systems in-house.

Recruitment website navigation is critically important

Now that HR tech affords companies the ability to effectively manage the e-recruiting process, research finds that recruitment website navigation is critically important. Job applicants scout for efficiency in the process and want an easy experience when navigating their application. Their experience of this influences their perceptions about their target employer’s image and attractiveness as a place of work.

In terms of content, it’s essential that recruitment websites include information regarding the employer’s corporate culture and support for professional development, alongside the expected basics such as job descriptions and work expectations. These factors all weigh the applicant’s perception of the attractiveness of the job and organization.

In a survey British multinational risk management, insurance brokerage and advisory company Towers Watson has found five important factors applicants consider when making a decision to join a firm: base pay, challenge, convenience of location, career advancement, and vacations and paid time off. Recruitments websites would do well to highlight these key employment factors.

Applicants expect a highly sophisticated, interactive, and social experience, having been shaped by at least a decade’s worth of experience using the web. Recruitment websites that are interactive, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly are much more likely to convert passive seekers into active applicants.

What’s more, given a pleasant application experience, applicants are more likely to recommend the recruiting firm to their peers. It should also be noted that recruitment website design is paramount in the minds of recent college graduates and those job-seekers who have less work experience.
