The HTC Wildfire S is a true successor to the old Wildfire smartphone and has gained huge popularity. Although HTC has cut some of the original features, it has proved to be quite a hit among consumers. HTC has still retained some of the old Wildfire concepts and has definitely tried to improve on these.

The Wildfire S is surprisingly small and if you have used large smartphones like Dell Venue Pro or HTC Desire then it may now look like a toy, but in spite of its tiny size the Wildfire S is as solid as rock and as sturdy as mountain. It gives you a sense of class with a well-constructed plastic and metal casing and state of the art design, so it is far more stylish than other plastic body handsets. Its small size allows you to handle it with ease and makes it less obtrusive when carried in your pocket.

Good Screen Resolution for the HTC Wildfire S

HTC has a new interface through the removal of standard android buttons to give it an altogether new look and old features, like the optical track pad, have been replaced by a fresh bank of touch controls in the new HTC Wildfire S.  This new feature has allowed the manufacturer to cut down the length of the original Wildfire from 106.8mm to 101.3mm. The screen resolution is definitely improved from 240×320 pixels to 320×400 pixels. Despite its small size, the manufacturers have retained the same screen size of 3.2 inch LCD which is a great relief and when combined, these features allow the Wildfire S to provide a better visual display and to run almost every application in the same way as other smartphones.

While we are talking about the positive features, the HTC Wildfire S also comes with Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense UI (Gingerbread). The handset may come with a wide range of software applications together with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, but annoyingly it doesn’t come with a forward facing camera which is useful for videoconferencing. Looking at additional features, the Wildfire S is definitely better than its predecessor but falls behind when you compare it to its entry level lineage. The new 600MHz processor certainly exceeds the old 528MHz one, but clearly falls behind on expectations.  Consumers would have definitely preferred a 1GHz processor and it would have made the Wildfire S a more attractive option in a very competitive market. While a wide range of games can be played on this smartphone, sadly it definitely struggles with Angry Birds and some 3D games.

The HTC Wildfire S May Be Small, But It Is Not Lacking

The new compact design of the HTC Wildfire S has played a crucial part in the success of this handset. This slicker design and better display delivers major features in a smaller package, while the durability of this handset definitely contributes to this success. It has a 5MP camera with an LCD flash and you can adjust the contrast and display of the LCD screen to get the best results. The HTC Wildfire S is mainly designed to bridge the gap between entry-level smartphones and top of the range devices. The new HTC Sense UI interface is exceptionally good though and makes a big statement, so if you want to buy a smartphone that efficiently runs Gingerbread then HTC Wildfire S is definitely a good and affordable choice.
