Google is certainly making waves in the smart phone market. The Android platform has taken on a life of its own, being utilized by all the best manufacturers in the industry, except, of course, Apple. With the entrance of the Google Nexus 4, we see a superb phone that offers the best functionality and the best specifications. The partnership with LG seems to really have borne fruit. With Google influencing Motorola as well, they seem to be cornering certain aspects on the market and their star is rising.
Samsung have had an incredible couple of years. In 2012, they became the largest retailer of mobile phones in the world, when you measure the numbers by volume of sales. They released two of the best phones ever, in the form of the Note II and the Galaxy S3. The Note II won numerous awards for innovation and was crowned as the top gadget of the year on a number of websites. The battle between Google and Samsung seems to be on.
You will notice a hole in your wallet by buying either phone, but both are available on contract from O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and 3 phone. Deals on the Nexus run a lot cheaper than those on the Galaxy SIII.
So How Do These Two Phones Stack Up?
The Google Nexus 4 is a very high specification phone. It has a Quad Core 1500MHz processor with 2GB of RAM. It has a 4.7 inch screen, 8 megapixel camera, and 15.3 hours of talk time. It runs Android 4.2. Perhaps the best thing about the phone is it is at an affordable price. Google doesn’t like the word ‘cheap’, so we won’t use it. At £239, it is remarkable value for money. It perhaps represents the best value anywhere in the mobile phone market.
The Samsung Galaxy S3
The Samsung Galaxy S3 also has impressive statistics. It sports a Dual Core 1500MHz processor, a slightly bigger screen than the Google phone at 4.8 inches, 8 megapixel camera, and 15 hours of talk time. It is a very attractive phone that entices techies and fashion-philes alike. The experience of Android on this phone is just about second to none.
The Comparison
By specification, the Google Phone is superior. With Quad Core rather than Dual Core and an incredible set of statistics, it is, by specification, the better phone. It also runs pure Android to a level that competes with, if not beats, the Samsung experience of Android.
In March, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be released. This will be an exciting time for the mobile phone market and, no doubt, will signal a glitz and glam affair where the media are invited to a real show of extravagance.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has done an incredible job for the company, but it will soon take its bow. The Google Nexus 4 is a revolution. It is incredible value for money and a phone that will surely launch Google further into a strong market position.
